During a conversation with a club member recently, I realised that although I was comfortable using my quilting rulers, not everyone was.

With that in mind, I’ll be doing a series of videos to help explain how to use quilting rulers in a practical setting.

For this block, I need to square up my block to 5 1/2″ and I’m using my 6 1/2″ ruler.

Remember, the numbers are running from 1-6 down the right hand side, top to bottom, and 1-6 right to left across the top. (if you are left handed, you want the numbers on the left (top to bottom) and across the top (left to right)

Use the diagonal line that marks 45 degrees to line up the seam from corner to corner.

The centre mark should be on the intersection of the seams in the middle. Trim the right hand side and top first, turn the block 180 degrees and repeat. (Left handers, left and top)
