The zipper wouldn't close up, but I thought it would make a fun cushion for an older child, maybe a teenager, especially with the flash of shocking pink against the black. The black strips are leftover binding, which I added in a quilt as you go method. As I was using black thread, I didn't put a backing fabric on until after the front was finished.
The inside is lined on both sides, with white, a recycled cotton sheet. For the back, I used the remaining pink fabric, and bound the edges with black and finished the cushion with a faux piping.
To finish, it will have a good wash, and a pillow custom made to fill it. You should be able to see that by the end of the week.
