I used a dress I already had as a template, and adapted it from that. We cut it out, sewed it, and then Jean pinned the shoulders for me while I had it on. Once they were adjusted, I finished around the neck and armholes.
Knowing this fits, and everything is the in the right place, we cut out a pattern piece from some lining fabric. I can use that as my guide for cutting out fabric. There is already another dress cut out and ready to sew, which I'll do sometime in the coming week.
I never thought I'd end up making clothes, that I'd be happy to wear and that fit. Thank you to Jean for coming and steering me in the right direction, and to some of my regular blog readers for the encouraging words, they've been appreciated.
