Printed calendars are still being sent out with the next posting date being 23rd November. There are about half a dozen left ready to be sent out. You can place your orders here but don't worry, I will be continuing to take orders ready for the next print run. They will be sent out during the week of 11th December.
I enjoyed my day sewing this week and have the sample cushion cover done ready for next month's workshop. Although the aim of the workshop is to reuse fabric reclaimed from shirts/blouses I've done the second part of the workshop in such a way you can join in even if you don't want to use recycled fabrics. You can find details of the full workshop here, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
You can still join the skirt class here. Ann has really impressed me by recycling fabric from a dress. I can't wait to see the end result.
I'm really blown away by the ingenuity of our group members. This week Nicola made a fantastic onesie for Rita the Whippet. This has been done all from scratch with Nicola making the pattern and doing the final fit. All I can say is, Rita must be one patient whippet, I can't seen Finley being such a good model. It's fantastic Nicola.

Sometimes the thought of all the costs involved in sewing can be quite daunting. When you think about the amount of thread that you can go through, and all the colours that are available, it could be quite easy to think it's too expensive. One of the most helpful tips I was given years ago, was that you don't need lots of colours. The following video shows how only just a couple of colours of thread will enable you to sew any colour fabric. Hope it will help.
If you are looking for crafty gifts, Hobbycraft have lots of kits available, many starting at under £5. My boys used to love their kits and the offers do make them value for money.
It was interesting to see at The Village Haberdashery this week, they now have vegan leather. They can be cut with normal scissors, sewn using a sewing machine, glued and painted.Suggested uses are for clutch bags, jewellery, book covers, toys and more. I think I may try some one day, just to see how it feels to work with. If any of you try it, do let me know what you think.
