Towards the end of last summer, the boys and I went out for the day, and came home with three hens. They were only young, and by the time they were old enough to start laying, winter was here and all thought of laying was put out of their minds.
Over the last couple of weeks, the days have noticeably been drawing out, we've had sun and blue sky, and bit by bit spring is getting closer. Laying eggs must again be on their minds. Well, at least one of them has the right idea, maybe the others will follow her example.
Jonathan found this beauty this morning. Being a bantam egg, it's small, you can see the size compared to my fingers. It is the most beautiful pale green, which was a lovely surprise. We're hoping that this will be the first of many, and I have bought the last eggs from the shop.
