Last year, I finally took the fabric out and then wondered what to do with it. Eventually, I got a quilt top put together, a square within a square. The top next went into the finishing pile, which I've been steadily working my way through this year.
A couple of weeks ago, I finally got to visit the one and only quilt shop in Sheffield. It was fantastic to actually see and feel fabric before buying. The lady I served was really helpful, so I'll definitely be going back.
With two and a half metres of backing fabric bought, I was finally ready to get
this quilt finished. Or so I thought! I had run out of batting, so I had to
order online, and it arrived Friday.
As you saw from the photo yesterday, I eventually had everything I needed to get quilting.
The morning was spent putting the layers together, quilting and trimming. The binding was sewn on, and in the afternoon, I hand sewed the binding to the back. I am so pleased with the finish, it was worth the long wait.
Considering, this quilt was made from a pack of fat quarters, it's a decent sized quilt, crib size, or a very generous lap quilt.
Now, I have to pick out the next top and get my shopping list written.
