I can't knit bobbles without thinking of my mum. While knitting both these hats, it brought back memories of her and a cardigan I knitted when I was in my teens.
It was knitted in a variegated aran weight yarn, with lots of cables and bobbles. It took ages! Running down each sleeve, was a central cable, bordered with bobbles, going from top to bottom. Mum said it reminded her of a pork pie crust! Now, every time I knit bobbles, I think of mum and my "pork pie crust".
These hats may be covered in bobbles, but they don't resemble pork pies in any sense.
This hat is larger than the first, same size in diameter, but longer from crown to rib. I know some people like a much looser fit of hat.
Both of these should be making their way into the shop and I can finish the red cardigan, I bought buttons yesterday.
