I went through all the scrap pieces, and cut them all to the same width. Some were narrow strips, some were wider. I used three of the plaid and two of the plain, and sewed them together in alternate stips. I then folded it in half to sew the side seams and boxed the corners.
Would I ever do this again? If asked, I probably would. I got other ideas while working with it, and once the initial problems were out the way, as long as it was kept simple, it worked. It was messy, it was smelly, but, on the whole, I'm pleased with the overall result, and it can only get better with more practice.
